Placentas In The Birth Room

Join doula mentors Megan Boone and Christine Jennings for an evening of hands-on learning, all about placentas! In this three-hour workshop you will learn from tenured community doulas who, from their respective decades In The Birth Room will share their experience and wisdom.

In this workshop we will explore:

  • Learnings about the anatomy, physiology, and fun facts of the placenta

  • Safe handling of placental tissue

  • How to give your clients a tour of their placenta In The Birth Room

  • Hands-on opportunity to explore placentas

  • Teachings and wisdom on ways to use and honour the placenta in the postpartum period with placenta encapsulator and ritual facilitator, Nadine Robertson of Marrow of my Soul.

In this unique workshop, we will gather in circle to appreciate and learn about the fascinating role placentas play and how we as birth workers can support our client's options. Together we will provide an overview of these options and how your clients can access them.

In our three hours together we will have the opportunity to provide an overview of options but will not have the ability to specialize training on blood born pathogens or any certification on that topic. We will cover a desciption of placenta encapsulation, but this training will not cover how to become a placenta encapsulator.

This course is designed for doulas and birth workers. A certificate of attendance with detiled course description will be issued to the attendees upon completion for continuing education requirements. This course is *not* DONA CEU approved.

As this course is being hosted from 5:00pm-8:00pm over the dinner hour, attendees are invited to bring a meal or purchase a dinner add-on for an additional fee. An opportunity to eat together will be incorporated at the completion of the training. Catering is offered by the wonderful Earth Harvest.

Registration is non-refundable, but is transferable to another attendee if you are unable to come. Rain checks will not be offered for this workshop. Any questions or concerns can be sent to inthebirthroom@gmail.com

We hope to see you there!
